It is a type of polyurethane foam, manufactured largely from synthetic, petrochemical-derived ingredients. Depending on the formulation and finished mattress, additional chemicals may also be used in its manufacture.

That is precisely what we choose to move away from.

You can spend seven, eight or even nine hours every night with your face and body directly against your mattress.

In a motorhome, that sleeping space can be particularly compact.

For us, that makes the materials inside your mattress even more important.

Synthetic foams can emit VOCs, particularly when new, which is responsible for the familiar chemical or "new foam" smell associated with some mattresses.

Open a new synthetic foam mattress and you'll often notice that distinctive smell.

That's commonly referred to as off-gassing – the release of VOCs from newly manufactured materials.

While VOC emissions vary greatly between products and generally reduce over time, we would rather take a different approach altogether.

We believe luxury should come from the quality of the natural materials and the skill used to make the mattress – not from adding more synthetic foam.

Natural fibres are particularly well suited to motorhomes because they breathe.

Wool naturally helps manage moisture and regulate temperature, creating a sleeping environment that can feel comfortable throughout the seasons.

Memory foam, by comparison, relies on its cellular foam structure and can retain more body heat depending on its formulation and construction.
